3.1 Participation Requirements a. All SIA Fellow and Corporate Members are invited to submit projects for selection in all Categories A to F.

b. SIA Associate Members may submit projects for selection only in Category F (Interior Architecture).

c. There is no limit on the number of entries that can be submitted under a company or name.

d. All entries/submission must adhere to the Awards Terms and Conditions.

3.2 Project Eligibility a. The projects submitted must have been completed during the last 5 years and with TOP obtained latest by 1 April 2022.

b. A project can be entered in more than 1 category by the Architect (e.g. Hotels and Interior Architecture (Commercial)). The Jury may exercise discretion in awarding the project in another category, as they deem appropriate.

Entries that have previously won a Design Award / an Honourable Mention / a Merit Award in the past cycles are not eligible for entry.

d. Entries that have been previously submitted in the past cycles are not eligible for entry.

e. Architects / Designers (where applicable) of Shortlisted Finalists shall present their project to the judges during the virtual presentation site visit. It is the participant’s responsibility to obtain the requisite consent from building owner to enter the competition, if required and to access the building, if necessary.

f. Failure to comply with these requirements may be grounds for disqualification.

3.3 Submission Requirements a. All submission materials shall be in English.

b. This is an anonymous awards competition. Anonymity is to be observed in all content submitted including the images, photographs, videos, project description and all remaining text.

c. Submissions which do not meet or comply with the submission guidelines or found to contain identifying sign or mark that may, in any way, contribute to identifying entrant shall be disqualified. These projects can re- enter in the next cycle based on prevailing terms and conditions.

d. Submission of all entries must be completed by 22 Apr 2022, 12 noon (GMT +8). Incomplete submission will not be considered. Entrants must submit their submissions to the following website:

f. The Institute is not liable for any Internet or web disruptions that may affect the timeliness of submissions.

3.4.2 Individual Photos / Images a. 1 Hero Image and a maximum of 12-20 representative project images with captions (drawings and photographs) to be uploaded individually (in jpg format).

3.4.3 Project Description The Project Description comprises the following:

1. Setting out client’s brief,
2. Planning constraints,
3. Materials and method of construction,
4. Any other noteworthy design challenges and features

3.4.4 Project Summary The 50-word project summary will be used as the project captions for the Awards website.

3.4.5 Video Presentation (for Shortlisted Finalists only) a. In lieu of a physical site visit, the shortlisted firm has the following options for their presentation:

1. Produce a short video (max duration 3mins) and follow up with a zoom presentation. The total presentation duration will be 8 minutes.
2. Conduct video conferencing site walk with live narration (max duration 8 minutes)
3. A combination of (i) and (ii) with the combined duration of 8 minutes.

b. The presentation should demonstrate the project’s context, narrative, background, architecture & spatial quality, materiality and detailing.

c. The Jury will follow up with a 7-minute Q&A.

3.4.6 Recognition of Joint Authorship and/or Associate Designer Where the project is carried out in association with another firm, due recognition must be accorded to the other firm. However, the participant must be the principal / main architect of the project submitted, a major contributor to the project and be an SIA member. The entrant shall be solely responsible for ensuring the submission is agreed and consented by the authors, including joint authors, before making the submission.

3.4.7 Consultants and Key Suppliers Information The project team and main material suppliers who played a major role will be required to be identified at submission stage and, if awarded, may be credited in selected write-ups and press releases.

3.4.8 Accuracy of Submitted Information a. Ensure that all information and spelling is correct in the forms as this information may appear in publications and on the plaques. Any errors on your part will be corrected at your expense. The onus of submitting the most updated and complete information pertaining to the submission (e.g. project information and consultant details) lies with the submitting party. Any missed information may result in disqualification.

b. SIA accepts no responsibility for publication of incorrect spelling or inaccurate information supplied with the entry.

3.9 Participation Fee The participation fee is as follows :

Payments are to be made together with the online submission. Acceptable mode of payment is with credit cards (VISA/Mastercard/AMEX) or Paypal.

3.10 No Refund Policy Entries are not eligible for a refund if they do not meet the requirements of the jury, withdrawn after the closing date, or disqualified.

3.11 Duties & Obligation of Entrants Participation in the SIA Architectural Design Awards implies that unconditional acceptance of the contents of the Awards Terms and Conditions.

a. SIA Fellow / Corporate Members must be registered with the Board of Architects, Singapore, with a current Practising Certificate (a copy to be uploaded as part of the submission). This is applicable for submission in Categories A, B, C, D and E.

b. All participants/partners/directors of participating firms must have no arrears with the Institute.

c. Each participant is duty- and ethics-bound to ensure his/her submission materials are authorised, and there shall be no copyrights or ownership issues with any other party/-ies related to the project/s submitted and the materials contained therein. All permissions to disclose information, copyrights, enter competition, use of information for publication etc. from the owners, clients and project consultant team are to be obtained by the entrant. SIA bears no responsibilities for agreements on non-disclosure and copyright between architect, their owners and/or project consultant team.
The Architect of the Shortlisted Finalists shall present the projects to the Jury Panel during the video interview.

d. All participants are not permitted to publish the results prior to the notification of the Jury’s final decision and official announcements by SIA. The Institute reserves the right to disqualify any entry which does not comply with the requirements.

e. All announced winners for the awards are required to participate in media interviews, public exhibitions, SIA held seminars and showcase sessions to present the ideas encapsulated within the design. Failure to participate in these events may be grounds for disqualification.

5.1 Recognition of Project Team

The award recognises the project team comprising:

1. the Architect;
2. the Owner / Client;
3. the Main Contractor;
4. 5 Consultants/Specialists of mention (C&S, M&E, QS, Lighting, Interior).

5.2 Design Award and Merit Award

Winning projects will receive a Design Award or Merit Award. Plaques will be presented to the following:

• one for the Architect, and
• one wall plaque for the building (for the owner/client).

A certificate will be presented to the respective parties in the project team.

There may be more than one Design Awards or Merit Awards for each category, or none. The Jury has sole discretion of this.

5.3 Special Awards: Design of the Year

Subject to Jury’s findings, SIA will consider:

These will be selected from the Design Award winning schemes of the SIA Architectural Design Awards 2022.

5.4 Publicity for Winning Schemes

a. The winning schemes (Design of the Year, Design Awards and Merit Awards) will be hosted on the SIA website.

b. The applicant of a winning project shall be invited to give a presentation and guided tours at the annual Archifest /Architours and to attend the Award Presentation as a winning team.

4.2 Jury Decision a. The Jury may choose to reallocate an entry at its discretion to a different category where deemed necessary. In the case of a project entered separately for different categories, it shall be the Jury’s sole discretion to judge the project under the category which, in their opinion, is the most fitting for the project.

b. The decision of the Jury is final and shall not be negotiated, contested, reviewed, challenged or appealed against by any party through any means or process whatsoever. The Jury may, at their own discretion, decide not to give any award for any of the category.

4.3 Jury Composition The Jury Panel will comprise:

6. Intellectual Property Rights a. SIA shall have the right in perpetuity, to publish, display, reproduce, publicise or communicate any and all submission(s) received, subject to appropriate citation and acknowledgement of the author(s). Such right shall be exercisable by SIA without prior permission of the author(s) and without any payment, charge or fee whatsoever to any person, party or entity.

b. SIA reserves the right in perpetuity, to retain all submissions received for the purpose of display after the winning entries have been announced.

7. Enquiries a. Entrant may send queries in English by email to SIA Secretariat at ada@sia.org.sg. Such email shall clearly state “SIAADA 2022” as the subject heading. Only upon receipt of an acknowledgement email sent by the SIA Secretariat shall the query be officially registered for a response. Deadline for submission of questions is 4th April 2022.

b. Responses to all queries will be made known via a posting on Awards Website on or before 11th April 2022.

c. Entrant who elects to apply for participation after 4th April 2022 shall void their rights to submit any query. However, a copy of the responses to the registered queries will be extended to these late applicants.
